His heartless action has earned him a date with Kibera Law Courts on charges of malicious damage to property The prosecutor revealed in court that Wanjiru willfully and unlawfully damaged his wife, Esther Wangechi Mwai’s KCSE and Diploma certificates, both issued by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
The accused committed the offence on June 22, 2022, during an argument at their home in Waithaka along Kikuyu road in Dagoretti Sub County, Nairobi, Kenya. He was arrested after Mrs Mwai reported the matter at the Waithaka police station. His wife had explained that her husband picked up a quarrel with her in the night after returning from work.
In the ensuing melee, he is said to have taken the documents, which were inside a big envelope, and tore them to pieces after which he stormed out of the house. The accused, however, denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate, Derrick Kutto.
